Community Partner Spotlight!

Schuylkill County’s VISION is a nonprofit organization serving Schuylkill County to mobilize community resources to create a better county.

VISION is a Get Outdoors PA community partner highlighting health and wellness programs under their Schuylkill on the Move and Healthy Schuylkill Communities projects.  Schuylkill on the Move is a program encouraging Schuylkill Countians to increase exercise through walking, including hiking.  While currently on hold VISION partners with Schuylkill Conservation District, Explore Schuylkill, Schuylkill County Historical Society, the Schuylkill Conservancy, and Schuylkill River Greenways Association to offer volunteer-led hikes throughout the year all over Schuylkill County.  VISION is also a PA WalkWorks affiliate.  WalkWorks is a PA Department of Health (a GOPA flagship member) program to increase physical activity through walking and walking groups (currently on hold).  VISION currently has routes in Mahanoy City, Shenandoah, and Schuylkill Haven.  Healthy Schuylkill Communities is a health and wellness program that addresses nutrition and opportunities for increasing physical activity through educational programming and events.  Healthy Schuylkill Communities also includes community gardens in Mahanoy City and Schuylkill Haven, with space for educational opportunities and classes.  Many of these services are made possible through a partnership with and funding from Lehigh Valley Health Network-Schuylkill Campus.
