Pennsylvania is a hunter's paradise. There are millions of acres of public and private land for hunters to pursue their pastimes. White-tailed deer, black bear and wild turkey are the most popular game species and there is plenty of habitat for them to roam.

Interested in hunting but don't know where to start? There's a lot to learn and the first place to start is a basic hunter-education class. The course covers information regarding hunting and firearm safety, hunter responibility and basic and advanced hunting techniques. Find a class and get certified as a Pennsylvania hunter.

After you are certified, you can purchase a hunting license and head for the woods. If you are already a hunter, consider taking a youth or friend for the trip too! The new Mentor Hunter Program allows new hunters the chance to learn hunting from an experienced adult. For informatin on this program and other opportunities to pursue hunting in Pennsylvania, visit the Pennsylvania Game Commission's website.
